Our Story

As a younger man, Wayne was a good all round sportsman, very likely heading into football as a career. But fate took a different turn and instead he followed in his father’s footsteps. While his father worked as a carpenter and joiner in the ship building industry, Wayne, who also loved being hands on in the joiner’s workshop, became an apprentice with John Laing construction, qualifying in carpentry and joinery to City & Guilds standards in 1988.

Recognising his people management skills, motivation and craftsmanship, Laings quickly moved Wayne into site management, giving him huge responsibility for the running and handling of some complex construction sites. After 10 years of working at a high level of skill for Laings and other companies, Wayne ventured out on his own.

Wayne keeps quiet about his spiritual beliefs, but is fully aware that guidance plays a huge part in his life.

Loft conversion in Shiphay

Wayne has done several jobs for us over the past few years, the most recent being a first floor extension to our house.  We cannot recommend Wayne highly enough.

He is a very considerate builder, trustworthy and always goes above and beyond to do the best quality job.  His workmanship is top class and we have always been extremely happy with the finish.

Decking in Shiphay

Wayne built our bedroom extension in the spring of 2019 and we are delighted with it. We were incredibly anxious about the process, having undertaken nothing like this before.

He was more than happy to involve us and the children in everything and took the time to talk through all the queries we had. I love that Wayne doesn't split his time between projects so when he's working with you he's working only with you for the duration of your project.

Side extension and loft conversion in Brixham

Wayne was recommended to me for the purpose of building a side extension and loft conversion.  I was impressed with his attention to detail and how he project managed the individuals with the skills needed at each stage.

He kept on budget, was punctual and polite; and from a woman’s point of view, seeing him clean up and tidy everything away each day, is highly commendable when living in a dusty, messy environment.

He is a perfectionist and everything is beautifully finished.  I can highly recommend him.

New build in Torquay

Having been impressed with Wayne’s work on my property in the Warberries, which was a new kitchen extension, I invited him to build a 3 storey town house in Babbacombe.

The build was completed to a very high standard from start to finish, the project ran smoothly and professionally and as Wayne is very much hands on and involved on a day to day basis on site, I was always kept up to date with progress.
